Hi, I am Rachael Petty – Nice to meet you.

Well wouldn’t you know…I haven’t left my dreams behind after all! Since my last “post” I  got a new job, a new vehicle, got engaged AND EVEN MARRIED?! What a year. Yeah, it’s been over a year. I am so embarrassed to have walked away from this amazing project I started here. Over the past year, I have learned a lot about myself, my creativity, my capabilities and so much more. I cannot wait to finally kick back off and continue this awesome process! I feel like I did the night before my first day of classes back in school. I loved shopping for school supplies and getting all of my binders in order, even though I had no idea what the order was going to be. I just thoroughly enjoyed going through all my new supplies and playing with them, telling myself things would change this year and I was going to be an AWESOME student. Weeeelllllll, I never was an awesome student…but damn did my binder look cool and organized. I have to tell you nothing has really changed – I still love buying all things organizational and setting stuff up. I should have been a professional organizer…is there such a thing? Well I have gone on a tangent…you still miss me? ha! So that excitement I would get the night before classes started would be the happiest I was all year – so much mental motivation for my future, and not knowing what this year would bring, but I am damn excited. Here I am again, I just set up my make believe binder, in the form of a kickass website and I am here to slay. Nice to meet you again, I am Mrs. Rachael Griffin Petty. I love you all, and I can’t tell you how FREAKING excited I am that you are here too! Let’s dance!   Also! The website is changing over the next two days. New theme, new navigation, it’s going to be lovely! Stay tuned! <3 &nbsp…

10-Day Green Smoothie Cleanse Pt.2

Alright so, It’s day 6. This junk is hard y’all! Don’t get me wrong, it is totally doable. Just make sure you are keeping yourself busy and preferably not at home. Sitting trying to work, draw and write makes me just want to snack, snack, snack! Although snacking is totally acceptable and mandatory on this cleanse but I am afraid I am snacking too much. Granted I am just snacking on carrots, celery and nuts, but maybe too much? I don’t know. After 5 full days (and a fun-size Snickers bar) of doing the cleanse, my skin is clearing up, my mind doesn’t seem so foggy, and I feel more confident and comfortable in my sassy body. So that’s really great progress, and because of that I am convincing Ory to take me out for a fat salad for dinner, hopefully with some grilled fish, mmmmmmmm. By the way this is totally allowed on the modified cleanse, so why can I not have a modified day? Treat-Yo-Self…with salad…hahahaaaaa. Thursday 3/17 Day 4: Berry Peachy 2 handfuls kale 1 handful spinach 2 cups water, plus more if needed 2 apples 1 1/2 cups frozen peaches 1 1/2 cups frozen mixed berries 2 tablespoons ground flax seeds OPTIONAL: 1 scoop of plant-based protein powder and stevia. Friday 3/18 Day 5: Peach Berry Spinach 3 handfuls spinach 2 cups water, plus more if needed 1 cup frozen peaches 1 handful grapes 1 1/2 cups blueberries 2 tablespoons ground flax seeds OPTIONAL: 1 scoop plant-based protein powder and stevia. Saturday 3/19 Day 6: Pineapple Spinach 2 cups spinach, packed 1 cup frozen pineapple chunks 2 cups frozen peaches 2 bananas 2 cups water, plus more if needed 2 tablespoons ground flax seeds OPTIONAL: 1 scoop plant-based protein powder and stevia. For all of these smoothies the directions are the same. Place leafy greens into blender and blend until mixture is a green juice-like consistency. Stop blender and add remaining ingredients. Blend until creamy. Add more water if needed. If using a smaller blender like a NutriBullet you will have to blend your smoothie in a few batches. No biggie, it’s what I do. See you tomorrow! xoxo – Rachael…

10-Day Green Smoothie Cleanse

So I started a cleanse yesterday. The sun is warm and shining, all the windows in my house are open, birds chirping, bees buzzing and I’m realizing it’s all of a sudden dress and shorts weather. I am not prepared. I don’t really know what has happened to my body under all the layers of sweatshirts and pants this winter. All I know is it’s time to kick my butt back into gear. So yesterday I started a fabulous cleanse and started a new workout routine, a hybrid of two if my favorite Beachbody programs; Les Mills Combat and Body Beast. The cleanse is JJ Smith’s 10-Day Green Smoothie Cleanse. *Lose up to 15 pounds in 10 days* That will get anyone’s attention. I am not even sure where I got this book, or how long ago it was but I have finally got around to doing it. This cleanse is really just kick starting yourself into a healthier lifestyle. You are not by any means starving yourself…even though I would kill for a slice of buttery garlic bread and a Snickers bar…just stay strong, just stay strong, STAY STRONG! The book is really great, it lays absolutely everything out for you; schedules, modified cleanses, grocery lists, more ways to enhance your cleanse, FAQ’s, etc. You have your 10 recipes that you use for the 10 days, then at the end of the book there are 100 more recipes categorized for different personal needs and goals. Needless to say LOTS of green smoothie recipes. Here are some things I realized you should do and not do while on a cleanse. Don’t look up any recipes for anything, like at all. Everything looks good. It’s probably best to just not browse the internet at all (HA), especially if you are a foodie, you don’t realize you gravitate to all your favorite food sites by habit, or maybe that’s just me. Try to keep busy and not sit around. Drink so much water and tea. Make sure you have plenty of “approved snacks”. Just make sure your partner isn’t a meanie about eating all the good(bad) food in front of you, FOR EXAMPLE: Sitting down next to you on the…
